Operating systems need a cleaner way for keyboards to request app-level access. Current models — Full Access on iOS, blanket network permissions on Android — are too coarse. Users should be able to grant calendar access without granting location, for example.
Cross-app integrations
AI keyboard agents need standard APIs for connecting to booking services, maps, messaging apps, and task managers. Today, each keyboard app builds these integrations one by one. An 'App Intents for keyboards' standard would accelerate the category.
Reliability and user trust
Users need to trust that the keyboard won't take unwanted actions. Confirmation flows, undo capabilities, and clear previews of what will happen before the keyboard acts are essential for adoption.
