The 10K+ downloads figure is a Google Play distribution signal, not evidence that the keyboard is accurate or better than its competitors. The Play data-safety panel is also a developer-provided declaration and is not proof of local processing.

Menu names vary by phone maker and Android version. Review every permission prompt instead of approving the setup automatically.

These are developer-described capabilities. We have not confirmed how reliably text selection, rewriting, or generation works across different Android skins and third-party apps.
Free boundary: what is known and unknown
The official site says EkkoBoard is free and requires no account, while Google Play currently offers a free install. That does not establish a permanent unlimited quota. We did not find a stable, public allowance for dictation minutes, generations, model use, or future premium features.
Check the current onboarding and Play purchase screen before making it part of a daily workflow. Store terms and in-app limits can change without the editorial page changing at the same time.
Privacy and data path
No login does not mean speech stays on your phone
EkkoBoard's privacy policy says audio is processed through cloud-based models. It names Groq, OpenAI, and Meta Llama-family models among current or possible providers and says it does not claim zero-retention agreements with all providers.
What may be processed
Dictated audio, resulting transcripts, corrections, app performance, crash logs, routing data, and aggregate usage statistics are described in the policy. Spoken audio can contain personal information even without an account.
What the policy says is not stored
The developer says it does not store audio on its own servers and does not collect account identifiers, advertising IDs, geolocation, or text from the screen. The policy does not promise zero retention by every third-party provider. These statements have not been audited by us.
Privacy Mode
The policy says Privacy Mode prevents retention of dictation data, transcripts, and corrections. With it off, transcripts and corrections may be processed temporarily for accuracy, stability, and routing improvements.
International transfer
EkkoBoard says its infrastructure is in the United States. For users elsewhere, audio and text are transmitted to the United States for processing.
