SpeakON 1.0 launched on April 15, 2026. The U.S. App Store showed 41 ratings and a 4.8 score when checked on Sep 6, 2026. That is a useful sign of early adoption, but still a small, changing sample.
iPhone setup
How to enable SpeakON and Full Access
SpeakON's official help page gives this sequence. The app is Only for iPhone and requires iOS 16.0 or later.

Install and sign in
Download the official App Store listing, then use Apple, Google, or email verification to create an account.

Add the keyboard
Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard, then choose SpeakON.

Allow Full Access
Open SpeakON in the keyboard list and enable Allow Full Access.

Finish onboarding
The help page says completing onboarding activates a 14-day Pro trial without payment details.

Choose voice or text
Open a normal text field, switch keyboards, then select SpeakON's Voice Keyboard or Text Keyboard.
What Full Access enables
SpeakON says Full Access is required for voice input, AI formatting, translation, and Dictionary sync because those features use online services and communicate with the main app.
What it does not override
Full Access is a broad trust decision, but it is not a bypass for every iOS protection. SpeakON's help page notes that iOS switches back to the system keyboard in sensitive password and payment fields.
How SpeakON works after setup
Dictate in a text field
Switch to the SpeakON keyboard, tap its microphone, and speak naturally. The app description says it adds punctuation and removes filler words.
Choose a format or style
SpeakON can shape rough speech into a message, email, list, translation, or more polished draft before insertion.
Continue with Voice Edit
The developer says follow-up speech can rewrite, add, delete, translate, change tone, or undo a change.
Capture notes separately
The app also keeps SpeakON Notes. Recent updates added note search and a Weekly Memory Digest, making it more than a keyboard alone.
Recent releases added a text keyboard, voice input from that keyboard, note search, Memory Digest, and recording-reliability fixes. Frequent updates show active development; they do not prove that every bug or cross-app interruption is resolved.
Hardware question
Do you need the SpeakON device?
App only
No hardware required. Use the iPhone microphone and SpeakON keyboard, with the current pricing page advertising 2,000 words per week on the free software tier.
App plus physical button
The optional device provides a one-press capture trigger and can record while offline for later sync. The current $129 offer says Pro Lifetime and unlimited words are included. MagSafe attachment requires iPhone 12 or newer.
The hardware changes capture convenience, not the basic requirement to own an iPhone. Offline capture means a recording can be saved for later sync; it should not be read as a promise that all AI formatting is performed without a network connection.

What App Store users are saying
The visible U.S. reviews repeatedly mention faster long-form input, cleanup of rambling speech, structured paragraphs, and the convenience of the hardware trigger. Those themes are useful for understanding why people install SpeakON, but they are not controlled benchmarks.
The same listing's recent release notes focus on recording continuity, keyboard login state, formatting, device connection, and battery use. That suggests the team is actively addressing reliability, while also showing where the product has needed work.
Privacy and data path
Cloud Sync is not the same as AI processing
SpeakON's data-controls page says disabling Cloud Sync does not stop temporary processing needed for transcription, editing, or note generation. Audio and transcripts may still be processed to complete a request.
Cloud Sync on
Supported transcripts, generated text, dictation history, and SpeakON Notes may be stored for cross-device access. The page says personal information is hosted and processed in U.S.-based infrastructure.
Cloud Sync off
Supported content is not retained for cross-device access, but temporary processing still occurs. Original recordings are kept only as long as needed for output, subject to consent and legal exceptions.
AI training claim
SpeakON says customer content is not used to train SpeakON or third-party AI models, and says providers are contractually restricted from independent training or advertising use.
Apple privacy disclosure
Apple shows Identifiers under Data Used to Track You. It also lists audio, identifiers, product interaction, and diagnostics among data that may be collected but not linked to identity. Apple says these disclosures are supplied by the developer and not verified by Apple.
SpeakON vs Wispr Flow
SpeakON is the more distinctive option if a physical capture button and an iPhone notes workflow matter. Wispr Flow is the clearer fit when you need voice writing across mobile and desktop. Both use cloud services for richer AI features and need their current privacy controls reviewed.
